As one of the UK's leading Property Consultants we pride ourselves on the experience and quality of our employees. It is therefore vital that we provide constant training and career development opportunities to our staff.

On joining NB Real Estate all members of staff take part in a full induction programme. This is an ideal way for new joiners to meet the most senior directors and other members of staff.

The induction process involves a presentation from selected Senior Directors giving an overview of NB Real Estate, as well as IT training from our in-house trainer. A continuous training programme can be devised if required.

Quality

NB Real Estate requires its management system to be maintained to the latest edition of ISO 9001 for the provision of property consultancy services to our clients.

Within the system all persons in the company:

  • Shall ensure our client's needs and expectations are met
  • Shall ensure their work meets statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Are committed and dedicated to providing our clients with a comprehensive and professional service
  • Shall aim to provide our Traditional Service in the Modern Manner
  • Shall ensure that the service they provide is consistent with the company's image and reputation for quality, teamwork and innovation.

Environmental

The Board of Directors of NB Real Estate are fully committed to achieving environmental best practice throughout its business activities, based at our London West End and City offices, wherever this is practicable. We recognise that the pursuit of economic growth and a healthy environment must be closely linked, and that ecological protection and sustainable development are collective responsibilities in which governments, business, individuals and communities all play a role.

In accordance with the above we employ an environmental management system, for the surveying services we provide to our clients from the above offices, which conforms to the requirements of ISO 14001. Through this, we will identify our significant impacts and set clear objectives, against which we will monitor and manage our environmental performance and legislative compliance.

Performance Plans

The company's performance management process is linked to our core values - Quality, Teamwork and Innovation. We are keen for everyone to take ownership of their own performance and career development - taking into account their own ability, aspirations and accountabilities. The aim of this process is to improve performance in line with service team and company targets.

Towards the end of the probation period employees are required to complete their own Performance Plan. This is a web-based document found on the Intranet and is easily amended or updated. A face to face discussion will take place with your team leader to go through the form together. This is an ideal opportunity to discuss progress and ambitions and identify new objectives for the next year. Staff may review their Performance Plans at any time, however formal reviews take place once a year.

Professional & Personal Development Course

NB Real Estate provides the opportunity for employees to attend various external courses, designed to help employees work more effectively.

CPD

All surveying staff automatically become part of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme. Lectures are held at University College London. Schedules for forthcoming lectures are found on the intranet and staff may attend any lectures of interest.

The CPD programme also offers lectures for non professional staff and Nelson Bakewell encourages any level of employee to attend if of interest to them.

Personal Development Courses

NB Real Estate also provides the opportunity for employees to attend various external courses, these include:

Effect Presentations

These courses are designed to help employees work more effectively and increase their client development skills. They enable individuals to understand their own and others' behaviour so that they can respond appropriately to different individuals through discussions, exercises, questionnaires and skill practice sessions. They provide an opportunity to explore and develop new strategies for achieving positive outcomes when dealing with others.

Courses are also held for Team Leaders to enhance people management skills.

Team Workshops

Team workshops form vital training tools within NB Real Estate. Their aim is for employees to form a better understanding of the dynamics within a team and to highlight the importance of each individual's team role.

The workshops include various team building activities and exercises to improve communications within the team. They have proven to be very useful and have enabled teams to work more effectively together.
